Yagya | A Forgotten Ritual
What is Yagya or Homam? In physical terms, Yagya (Yajna, homam, havan or agnihotra) is a process of herbal sacrifices in holy fire aimed at the finest utilization of the subtle properties of sacrificed matter with the help of the thermal energy of fire and the sound energy of the mantras. Yagya literally means “sacrifice, devotion, worship, offering”, and refers in Hinduism to any ritual done in front of a sacred fire, often with mantras. Yagyas are performed to create positive effects and avoid unwanted effects in the different areas of life of individuals and nations and to have the best possible nature support. It is possible to use it as prevention but it is also possible to use it for promoting the different areas of life. The benefits of the yagya are health, wealth, harmony and evolution. Modern scientific research has also shown significant therapeutic applications of Yagya and also affirmed its potential in purification of environment. The philosophy of Yagya teaches a way of living in the society in harmony, a living style to promote and protect higher humane values in the society – which is indeed the basis of the ideal human culture. | Why “Group Yagya”? Every Yagya can be performed in the price range of thousands to lakhs of rupees depending on the requirement of the devotee. The difference would be in the offerings made and the number of mantras chanted which translates into the number of priests who chant them and the place where yagya has to be performed. Hence the price indicated on the website for Yagyas performed exclusively for a single person/family was decided on, based on the requirements (number of mantras chanted, offerings) and assumption of the cost that our majority of our users would be comfortable with. The idea for the group Yagya was born out of many requests from people who could not afford the regular charges of exclusive Yagyas but had a need or wished to participate in these pujas. Therefore, the fee for the priests (the no.of mantras chanted) and the offerings would be equally divided among a presumed number of participants and hence we were able to offer the Yagya at a much lower cost. The number of mantras chanted and the offerings will be in proportion to the number of participants and every participant’s name and Nakshatra (when provided) would be included in the Sankalp. The Yagya to be performed and the dates have been selected by our head Pandit Ji based on a variety of factors such as festivals, vrat days, auspicious days and planetary transitions. Schedule designed by panel of experts in a way so that it benefit everyone throughout the year with regard to Peace, Health, Wealth, Career, Relationships and Harmony. |
